An evaluation will include an intake interview with parents and one or more testing sessions with the child. Parents will be asked to provide a thorough developmental history and both parents and teachers will be asked to complete behavioral checklists.
Dr. Otto may also recommend a classroom observation in order to obtain information relevant to the child’s behavior within school. All of this information will be interpreted and summarized in a comprehensive written report.
This written report will be reviewed in it’s entirety with parents at a feedback session. It is critical that parents leave this session with a complete understanding of the findings and the recommendations for intervention and have an opportunity to get all of their questions answered.
Dr. Otto is also available to share results of testing and recommendations with educators within the context of a student assistance team or IEP meeting.
All testing will be completed by Dr. Otto and never by unlicensed technicians. As you are choosing a provider to evaluate your child it is important to ask whether testing will be completed by a Licensed Psychologist. By completing all assessments personally, Dr. Otto is able to directly observe your child’s approach to problem-solving, behavioral and emotional response to the testing environment, and social interaction skills. This clinical information is always just as important as the numerical scores earned on direct measures of assessment.
